Question

How can I get HR certified??

Asked by: Erika

Answer

HR certification in San Diego is rather simple and your options are vast. You can obtain an HR certificate through the various career development and college systems in the area. The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) offers a stellar program and is one of the most prestigious in San Diego. Chapman College, SDSU, and the University of Phoenix are some other institutions that offer HR certification programs. The institution and length of classes are dependent upon your current situation. For example, Chapman has night and day classes and various programs to facilitate your schedule; this program is usually 11 sessions long. At the end of the program and mastery of the topics, you will be awarded a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Chapman and SHRM National as well as 3.6 continuing education units. To build on your HR Certificate you can elect to take the PHR or SPHR test. Certification is a voluntary action by a professional group to establish a system to grant recognition to professionals who have met a stated level of training and work experience. Certified individuals are usually issued a certificate attesting that they have met the standards of the credentialing organization and are entitled to make the public aware of their credentialed status, usually through the use of initials (i.e., PHR or SPHR) after their names. Certifications differ from certificate programs because certifications include an experience component. Certificate programs, on the other hand, award certificates once a course of study has been completed and do not require previous work experience.
